Maze Madness!
This week in maths we have been learning about directions such as forward, back, left, right, north, south, east, west. First we looked at minecraft mazes. Then, we gave instructions to a buddy to solve a simple maze. They couldnt see the maze, so we had to say "forward two blocks, right three blocks" and so on.
Finally we went outside with a buddy and we got to go through a real maze! One person was blindfolded while the other had to give instructions to solve the maze. If we touched the sides or peeked we had to go back to the beginning!
It was awesome fun!

Transformation Style!
The other week we learnt about Transformation (Reflection = flip, Translation = slide, Rotation = turn). We watched a funny youtube clip called Transformation style.
Then got a little Koru template and had to do either flips, slides or turns. See if you can guess which Koru has been flipped, turned or slid below?

Skyscrapers Art Gallery Trip
On Tuesday this week we went on a trip to the Auckland Art Gallery. It is the biggest Art Gallery in New Zealand and we went there because our Inquiry topic is patterns. We looked at different patterns and symbols in Art.
We got to draw different emotions using lines, looked at lots of different art, create our own juggling art, and we even got to play with lego.
It was a really fun experience to learn about how different artists think when they are making their art.
Come along in week 10 to see our very own Art Gallery in the Skyscrapers block.

Amazing Artwork!
This term we have been learning about patterns in Art. Below are some samples of our art that will be on display in our Awhina space in Week 10. The first artwork we did was Victorian stitching. We started with some easy stitches and then tried some harder ones. We then tried some abstract modern art (see below). We had to paint squares, then circles, and we also tried another piece of art using lines and circles. Its been great fun and we are looking forward to sharing them with you.

Patterns in sewing
Our inquiry topic term is patterns. A patterns is something that repeats itself over and over again.
To learn about patterns we have been doing patterns by sewing using wool, hessian, and big blunt needles. We have learnt to do lots of different stitches like cross, running, chain, the bumpy walk, snake, candy cane, and many more. Our sewing is looking amazing and should be finished in a few weeks.
