Spot the digi duck!

In Room 16 we have been learning about sustainable lunchboxes.   A sustainable lunchbox is one with no gladwrap, packets, or anything that needs to be thrown into the rubbish bin.  Apple cores, banana peels and other fruit skins do not count as they can be turned into compost by burying them in the soil.

See if you can find Digi Duck in our sustainable picture!

More amazing Room 16 talent!

Here's Kaelyn from Room 16 with the UHPS Golf Team.  Kaelyn joined some other Y5/6 students to represent UHPS at a fun Golf day.  She was one of the youngest golfers in the competition and hit some great golf shots to get the team to 7th place.  Well done Kaelyn and the UHPS Golf Team!

Writer of the week

Last week Room 15 and 16 went on an amazing bush walk close to the school.  After that we came back to class and brainstormed what we saw, heard and felt.  Then we wrote a recount about our bush walk.

Congratulations to Zeph who is our writer of the week:

The yellow leaves floated gently onto the hard ground.  I was walking on a rocky substance and I found two smelly ponds and three round balls.  There was a calm river because it was between two muddy mountains.  It was a very long way. I felt the boiling sun sun like a fireball and I heard a barking dog.

Walking down Kunzea place in the early morning sunshine.
Entering the shady green forest track.
Sunrays shining through the autumn leaves.

Onomatopoeia Song

Room 16 have been learning about using Onomatopoeia.  To remember what it is and get some good ideas for our writing we decided to write a song!  Everyone in the class choose an example of Onomatopoeia and we added them all together to create this song.  We hope you enjoy it!

Skyscrapers Beach Trip

Crash went the big waves when we went on the Skyscrapers beach trip.  When we were at the beach and we made some very tall sand castles.  After that we went for a swim in the freezing cold water.  It was a very fun day.

A Tatou Toi (Our Art)

These are Room 16's amazing Koru designs!

First, we looked at lots of Koru designs and talked about how Koru can represent families.  Then we talked about hot and cold colours and practiced drawing our own designs.  After that we choose our favourite design and did a good sketch copy in pencil, then sharpie.  Finally we used pastels to colour them in.  Please come in and see the artwork on our windows and in the office.
